“My Own Private Rainbow”

I began my artistic journey forty years ago with a ruler, a number twelve pencil and a pad of paper.

Back then, it was a matter of playing around with lines; more doodling than anything else.

I liked it.

My doodles became a bit more complex, and before I knew it, I had a drafting table and much better materials.

I kept at it.

Fast forward about twenty years:  my doodles had evolved into attempts to depict the geometry of the very small, using angular arrangements and perspective.

The very first inspiration to paint came from listening to a CD by Miles Davis, “ In A Silent Way”.

Since then, I’ve tried interpreting other pieces of music in oils:  “White Room” by Cream, “Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix and “Tocata And Fugue” by Johann Sebastian Bach.

There are more to come.

The seven pieces here at Forage and Gather, are a second examination of the visible spectrum:  My Own Private Rainbow”.

Thanks for looking.
